Monthly Wrap-Up: March 2019

Hello, loves! Today I’m going to be talking about the books that I read in March:

Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) by Mindy Kaling ★★★★

This memoir was really fun! Reading it felt like having a conversation with Mindy Kaling, which is obviously pretty cool. I have a new appreciation for her, and not just because I learned that she wrote my favorite episode of The Office. She just managed to talk about so many interesting topics in an honest, yet light-hearted manner. Reading about her thoughts and observations was incredibly entertaining and I enjoyed every minute of it.

The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen ★★★★

This was a compelling read and the writing style had me flying through it. Although I enjoyed most of the twists in this novel, I think that even if I hadn’t, I still would’ve been entertained while reading because it’s just an engaging book overall. My main complaint about this book is the ending. With thrillers, I want to be left shocked and dazed. While this story’s conclusion was interesting, I just wanted more from it.

Five Feet Apart by Rachael Lippincott with Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis ★★★

This was a cute read with important representation of a chronic illness. It was just a bit forgettable. When it comes to YA books about illnesses, you know they’re inevitably going to be compared to The Fault in Our Stars, and this one honestly just didn’t rip my heart out the same way.

Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid ★★★★★

You can find my full review here, but in summary I really freakin’ loved this book. I had sky high expectations for it and I was not disappointed. This story didn’t feel like fiction; by the time I finished it, I felt like I had been reading about real members of a real band. The characters were so well-written and their relationships were so complex. On top of that, the plot was interesting and well-paced. I can’t recommend this one enough.

Serious Moonlight by Jenn Bennett ★★★★½

I’m not going to say too much about this one because I’ll be posting a full review closer to the release date (April 16th), but I will say that I really enjoyed it. I’d recommend picking it up, especially if you’re a fan of Jenn Bennett’s other books!

Let’s chat!

Have you read any of these books and what did you think of them? What books did you read in March?

    1. 2 books is great too! I don’t always get to finish that many books in a month, haha. If you’re looking for something light and funny I’d definitely recommend it! I hope you enjoy it when you get to it 🙂 Now I really want to read her other book, Why Not Me?
