Over the summer, I participated in Aentee’s #TheReadingQuest and I had a GREAT time. I’m so excited to be participating in another one of her reading challenges!! #ReadersCrossing is so creative. I love the bingo board set-up and I’m thrilled to see that she’s using it again. I also love that she’s chosen fAnimal Crossing as the theme. I love the game and think that using the four character types as the four paths was such a clever idea.
Unfortunately, I’ll probably be off to a late start because I have finals up until December 15th, but I’m going to do my best to catch up once the semester is over.
I’ve decided to start with the “Cool” path, just as I did in the game. As 2017 comes to an end, there are several books that have come out this year that I still haven’t read/bought and I think the challenges on this path will push me to finally read them. Here’s my starting TBR:
- Contemporary: The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli OR Windfall by Jennifer E. Smith
- Written by a Celebrity: Bernie Sanders Guide to Political Revolution by Bernie Sanders
- Book Award Winner: Into the Water by Paula Hawkins (Winner of the Goodreads Choice Awards 2017 in the Mystery/Thriller category) OR Fantastic Beasts by J.K. Rowling (I’m shocked and ashamed that I haven’t read this yet because I’m a huge Potterhead and I absolutely loved the movie)
- Recommended by a Friend: The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
- Set in Your Country: They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera
For this challenge, I didn’t exclusively choose YA books. Although I love all books, YA tends to be the genre I lean towards the most. However, I just finished the audio book version of The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins and really enjoyed it so when I saw that B&N was selling signed copies of Into the Water for Black Friday I had to pick one up. Also, my friend lent me her copy of The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah and I’ve heard wonderful things about it. These books are on the top of my TBR so this is the perfect opportunity to finally read them.
If I get to any of the challenges in the center of the board I’ll probably start with Seasonally Inspired Read. I ordered the Epic Reads Holiday Box and I’m super anxious for it to come in! The book I chose was The Afterlife of Holly Chase by Cynthia Hand. It’s a retelling of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. I haven’t read a Christmas-related book since I was in elementary school so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity. It also goes along perfectly with the challenge so I’m definitely aiming to read it this Christmas season.
Like I said before, I had so much fun participating in Aentee’s last reading challenge so I would encourage any of you guys to sign up for this one! You can find more information about it here. I can’t wait for this to start 🙂
