June 2018 CramAThon TBR

One of my goals this summer is to read as many books as possible. Summer is usually my favorite time to relax with a good book and I’m looking forward to doing that as often as I can these next few months. I’m also transferring to a new school in the fall and I’m not sure how much time I’ll have to read, so I definitely want to check some books off of my TBR while I can.

What better way to motivate myself than to participate in a readathon? When I heard about CramAThon I knew it was a perfect opportunity to get a lot of reading done. This round will take place from June 10th to June 17th and there are seven awesome challenges. If you’re interested in participating, you can learn more about it from the announcement video here. You can also check out their Twitter account here!

Here are the seven challenges…

… and here is my TBR!!

1. A Predicted 5 Star Book

As a math major, I know that there are not many fictional books involving math and you need to take advantage when one comes along haha. As a result, I was really excited about this one as soon as I heard about it. It sounds really cute! I’ve also heard nothing but great things about it so far. I’m definitely predicting that this will be a 5 star read for me and I hope it lives up to my expectations.

2. A Book That’s Out Of Your Comfort Zone

I’m a huge fan of Impractical Jokers so I jumped on the chance to meet “Murr” at BookCon last weekend (post coming soon!). I was very lucky to receive a signed ARC of his new book, Awakened. I’m extremely eager to read this novel because he’s known for being a comedian, but his book is actually in the horror genre. I’m so excited to see how he pulls it off, although I’m sure I will love it. I consider this a book that’s out of my comfort zone because although I love horror movies, I don’t read horror novels often. I’m definitely willing to give this one a try though and maybe it will inspire me to read more horror novels in the future.

3. A Book That’s Been On Your TBR For A Long Time

There are so many books that have been on my TBR for a while, but I was thinking about this novel just the other day and how I originally planned to read it when I bought it several months ago. I’ve been super into mystery/thrillers lately so I feel that this will be the perfect addition to my TBR.

4. A LGBTQ+ Own Voices Novel

I believe the main character in this novel is bisexual and I’m not positive but I also think I heard that it was own voices. I’ve also heard that it has great diverse representation in general and I think the plot sounds so unique. I bought this book last week and am so excited to read it!

5. Something That’s Not A Standard Novel

When I heard “not a standard novel,” I first thought of poetry and audiobooks. I appreciate poetry and am not speaking down on it at all, but it’s just not for me. On the other hand, I’ve grown to love audiobooks in the past several months and this is the next one I want to listen to.

6. A Book With Your Favorite Color On The Cover

lets talk about lvoe.jpg

As I discussed in this Top Ten Tuesday post, I’m super obsessed with the color purple. I was automatically drawn to this book because of the purple on the cover, but I ended up buying it because it also has great ace representation and a cute romance.

7. Read 7 Books

The last challenge is to read seven books, which means that you can choose any novel to be the seventh one. I’m choosing Girl Made of Stars because I’ve really been wanting to read it. I’m also extremely grateful that I was promised a copy of the ARC for this book in return for a review by the end of this month. Between genuinely wanting to read this and needing to be able to post a review by June 30th, this seems like the perfect time to read this amazing novel.

So those are the seven novels I’ve chosen for my CramAThon TBR! I have a few backup possibilities (for example, The Hating Game in place of The Kiss Quotient). There are also a few books that satisfy multiple requirements (Let’s Talk About Love has my favorite color on the cover and is a LGBTQ+ own voices novel). I should also mention that I will most likely not be able to read all of these books this week. In fact, I’ll be happy to finish three or four. Although I love to read, I’m not a super fast reader. This is also going to be a busy week for me. I’m scheduled to work and plan on spending time with family, and I’m also in the middle of cleaning my room and redoing my bookshelves. I’m going to read as much as I can around these activities and I hope to get as many finished as possible!

Have you read any of these books? What did you think of them? Are you participating in CramAThon? Are you participating in any other readathons coming up? Talk to me in the comments! 🙂

  1. The Kiss Quotient is my predicted 5 star read too!!! I hope you like Undead Girl Gang and Emergency Contact, they were both great reads for me too. Girl Made of Stars and Lets Talk About Love are on my TBR for later for sure! I’ll have to see what you think of them when you’re done.

    1. Sorry for the late response! Did you end up reading the Kiss Quotient? I finished Emergency Contact! I really liked Penny’s sarcastic sense of humor and Sam was adorable. I also finished Girl Made of Stars last week and posted my review last night. I thought it was amazing! The topics that are discussed in that novel are so important. I still have to read Undead Girl Gang and Let’s Talk About Love but I’ll let you know what I think of them as soon as I do! 🙂 Thanks so much for the comment xx
