Top 5 Tuesday: Books I Want To Read Because of Blogging/BookTube

top 5 tuesday #1.png

Top Five Tuesday is hosted by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm. I always see these posts and the topics look so fun so I wanted to give it a try this week! Today’s theme is books that I read because of blogging/BookTube. I have read a few books because of hearing about them online, but I’m not sure that I’ve read five yet. However, I’ve added a ton of books to my TBR because of hearing about them online, so I’m going to list five books that I want to read because of blogging/BookTube.

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi

I first started hearing about this book at the beginning of the year while reading/watching “Most Anticipated Releases of 2018” posts/videos. This was on pretty much everyone’s list. Since then, I’ve heard so many great things about it on blogs/BookTube. Tomi Adeyemi is going to be at NYCC18 and I would love to meet her so I really want to finish this book before October.

A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab

I’m pretty sure I’m one of the only people who hasn’t read this series and because of the things I’ve heard about it, I really want to finally get to it. I always hear about A Darker Shade of Magic on BookTube, especially in videos were people list their favorite books. Someone that I remember gushing about these books is Ashley @ a dash of ash. It’s been on my TBR ever since I watched her “Favorite Books of 2017” video, so it’s about time I finally read them! Now I just have to buy them haha.

The Way I Used to Be by Amber Smith

Emma @ emmmabooks is my absolute favorite BookTuber. She’s a big part of the reason I got into watching BookTube videos in the first place. I’ve loved the books I’ve read based on her recommendations and this is one she constantly raves about so I’m really eager to read it! I know this book is going to rip my heart out but I’m ready for it haha.

Scythe by Neal Shusterman

I’ve heard about this book all over blogs and BookTube, especially since its sequel came out. It has so many great reviews. This is also another book that Emma highly recommends. I think the premise sounds fascinating – a world where even death has been conquered and scythes kill people to control the population. I haven’t read a dystopian novel in a while and this one sounds so unique.

Sea Witch by Sarah Henning

When I was looking into books coming out in July so that I could write my monthly anticipated releases post, I heard about this one. I thought it sounded interesting but initially I wasn’t going to include it on my list because it reminded me a lot of To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo and I honestly though TKAK sounded a bit better. However, people started posting reviews on their blogs and I heard so many good things about it that I changed my mind. I’m excited to see if I like it as much as everyone else and it comes out in one week so the wait is almost over!

Have you read any of these books? What books do you want to read because of blogging/BookTube? Do you participate in Top 5 Tuesday?

  1. Scythe is something I have been wanting to read too! I watched a video I think on Regan’s channel about it a while ago and ever since then I’ve bee thinking about picking it up! Also, I’ve seen Children of Blood and Bone eeeeverywhere but so many mixed reviews! I’m curious to see if I’d like it 🙂

    1. It just sounds so unique! I’m definitely going to try to finish it before the summer is over. Ah I love Regan’s channel! She has some great recommendations too. Yes, Children of Blood and Bone is so popular! I heard that Jimmy Fallon is reading it as the first book for The Tonight Show’s new book club. I hope if you read them you enjoy them 🙂 ❤

    1. I’m glad you enjoyed Children of Blood and Bone and I’m sorry to hear you didn’t like Scythe. After I finish it I want to know what you disliked about it but I want to go into it with an open mind haha. Thanks, doll! ❤

  2. I really want to read Darker Shade of Magic, Scythe, and COBAB too! Bloggers have been hyping these up, so I’m curious how that will go haha. And I have yet to read To Kill A Kingdom, but I’m hoping it’ll be better than Sea Witch! I enjoyed the latter, but I’ve similarly heard TKAK is better. 😛 Great post!

    1. I hope that you enjoy them when you get to them! ❤ Yes, I love seeing whether books live up to the hype haha. I’m glad you enjoyed Sea Witch! I’m really excited to read both and I’m not sure which to read first lol. Thanks so much! 🙂

  3. I need to read the second book of Darker Shade of Magic and Scythe is in my TBR. I’m just not that sure about Scythe because I almost always need some romance in my books, the only exception being Rick Riordan books. Sea witch sounds pretty good too! I haven’t read To Kill A Kindom. Is it good?

    1. What did you think of the first book in the Shades of Magic series?! I usually enjoy romance too but sometimes I think it’s interesting to read books without it. I guess it really depends on the plot of the book for me haha. I love Rick Riordan books too though! I haven’t read To Kill a Kingdom yet but I’m really excited to and I’ve heard so many wonderful things about it 🙂 I hope you enjoy these books if you read any of them! ❤

      1. I liked it even though it didn’t have romance. I’m exited to see how the romance is written though and if I’ll end up liking it. I didn’t like all romances in Rick Riordan books.

      2. I didn’t know that there was no romance in the first book. Does the romance start in the second book? It’s been a while since I’ve read any Rick Riordan books so I’m not sure how I would feel about the romances now. I really want to reread the ones I’ve read and finish the rest that I haven’t read though!
